Taj Mahal

We were up for sunset to head to the Taj Mahal, hoping to have a similar experience from Petra only to be greeted with a LINE UP at 6am to get in!!! The line up is to go through security and once you're inside it is a fight to get the best photo opportunities. It was a beautiful day and the sunrise was perfect. The reflections off the water ponds were perfect and the overall experience was good. The Taj Mahal was built as a tomb for the emperors dead wife and he spared no expense in building it. It took just over 22 years to build and is truely a beautiful wonder.

We left taj to grab our little souvenir monument at the market and then went for breakfast at the hotel. Since we have a driver here we decided it would be best to see the Agra Fort, and then spent the afternoon at our roof top pool. The fort was the old palace and has several viewpoints of Taj Mahal. Stopped for an amazing lunch at a place called Pinch Of Spice. The restaurant tops the list of all the India ones. In fact, we went back for dinner too!!! It was that good!

After our afternoon of lounging by the pool, we had booked a live dance show that revolves around the story of Taj Mahal, great dancing, terrible acting but overall a good time.

Today we have been in the car for most of the day, we started the drive to Jaipur and on the way stopped at a bird sanctuary where we rented bicycles and toured around. It was great to be on our own and there were birds everywhere!! Our bicycles were less than desirable so after a couple hours we had to call it quits and continue on our venture. Once we arrived to Jaipur we were taken to a good ol' monkey temple. Man am I sick of monkey temples!!!! We went in to check it out and the temple itself made up for the fact it was covered in monkeys. It was a Hindu covenant where the holy men lived and just a very unique place.

We had to drive around for probably another hour while driver helped us find an ATM and then our hotel but we have arrived to our 115 year old palace. Tomorrow is going to be a rough day as we spend 6 hours in  the car to get to the airport and our flight doesn't leave until 3 am where we will finally arrive into beijing at noon. It's going to suck, but we will update you from china!!
